Hey! Today is all about beauty – quick, simple, practical beauty, that is. I found a few beauty tips & tricks here and there (some of them you might know already, but hopefully some of these will be new to you!) and I thought I’d organize them in this post and maybe help you out. Let’s start!
#1 Vaseline is pretty great
And there are SO many things you can do with it. Check them out:
→ Use it as a lip balm. Or as a lip gloss!
→ Use it on any dry skin (hands, feet, elbows, knees, a sore nose…).
→ Use it on your cuticles to moisturize them AND also when you’re painting your nails – it keep the nail polish from staining the skin around your nails.
→ Exfoliate your lips: apply the vaseline and then gently scrub your lips with a toothbrush.
→ Use it as a brow gel after brushing your eyebrows out, to tame the hairs and keep your brows in place.
→ Use it on your hair (just a little bit!) to tame back any baby hairs for a smooth hairstyle.
→ Use it as a makeup remover (especially to remove lash glue).
→ Apply it on your wrists where you spray your perfume – apparently it helps making the fragrance last longer on your skin.
→ Also you can start applying it on your lashes because it helps them grow thicker!
→ Having a hard time putting on earrings after a long time without wearing any? Put some vaseline and it will help.
#2 No time to wash your hair?
It’s ok. Dry shampoo can be your best friend. If you don’t have it or want a cheaper alternative, then let me tell you: baby powder all the way! Tip: apply it at night before you go to sleep so it soaks up the oil throughout the night. And for all the non-blondes out there, make sure you blend and brush it well so it’s not visible in your hair.
Or of course, do a ponytail, a bun or a braid (fishtail braid for example) and go for a messy look instead of a sleek one.
#3 Are you using your hair pins correctly?
I didn’t know this, but you’re supposed to have the “straight” side of the pin up, and not the “wavy”! When the “wavy” side of the pin is down it grips your hair better and the pin stays in place longer.
#4 Nail polish takes ages to dry, seriously
It’s true. It does. Fill a bowl with water (preferably ice water!) and soak your fingers after painting your nails to speed the process. If that’s too cold for you, you can use your hair dryer too – just make sure you’re using the coolest setting (cold air, not hot) to really dry your nails.
#5 Make your eyes look awake even if you’re not
→ Concealer under your eyes – it must be 1 or 2 shades lighter than your skin tone or slightly yellow to neutralize your dark circles. Also the correct way to apply it is to draw an inverted triangle under your eye as you can see in the picture below.
→ Apply white eyeliner on your waterline to brighten up your eyes. And to make it last, set the eyeliner by adding white eyeshadow with a small brush.
→ If you go for eyeshadows, choose lighter colors and don’t forget to highlight your brow bone.
→ If you don’t have time to do any eye makeup but you still want to achieve that put together look, do your brows instead! Brush them, fill them in, set them in place. It’s probably quicker and it does frame your face.
→ And finally, an old but gold trick if you wake up with puffy, tired eyes – put 2 tablespoons in the freezer and when they’re cold enough place them in your eyes to help depuff. More practical than using cucumbers!
So that’s all for this post! I hope this helps you somehow and since I’ve got a few more tips (some fashion related things, too) I might do another post similar to this in the future, we’ll see!
See you next Monday,
